Demogirl

I caught a bit of demogirl (Molly MacDonald) on TWiF. She actually goes through the trouble of showing you interesting stuff on the internet and how you can take advantage of it. Have you ever found a plugin and didn’t know how to install and use it? That’s what demogirl does.

Is it soooo wrong….

…to watch people fall for something whether it be a political candidate for either party or man-made global warming or the global suppression of Africa or the actor that has played a President on a television show or the loss of American identity…

…and feeling like you want to laugh and then cry?

1. McCain lost 2 primaries before this last one. It was clear that conservatives didn’t want him to run. Obama shouldn’t have even been running for President, yet.

2. Man made global warming isn’t true and isn’t real and has been disproved so many times by so many reputable scientists that the fact that anyone can still say those words is utterly confounding to me.

3. The world leaders don’t want Africa to use it’s own natural resources like gas, coal, and oil to pull itself up and become more than just a “third” world country. Their solution is to allow Africa to use wind power and solar power. Unfortunately, both of those options are too expensive for the average African to afford which, they COULD afford if they were allowed to use their own natural resources, which they are NOT. Does your head hurt over that one too?

4. Actors are well… actors. They are playing make believe like when you were 5 and you played cowboys and indians with the neighbor kid up the street. They only difference is that they are older and have cameras pointed at them while they are playing make believe. Just because you played a cowboy doesn’t mean that you know how to herd cattle and shoe a horse. The same goes with actors who play important people. Just because they acted like someone who is important doesn’t mean that they are and it certainly doesn’t make them an expert.

5. I read an article which I will NOT pass along yesterday written by a complete moron who has written horrible stories in the past, but I digress. The subject of his story was that he thought that defending your country (in this case the United States) was a noble yet stupid idea. He didn’t think we needed to defend our country and he certainly didn’t love it. His take was that conservatives are obsessive about the US and are fanatical about duty, honor, and country. I suppose that if it wasn’t for the obsessive fanatical Americans that came before him, he would have been writing his column in German or Japanese.

I never did really believe that conservatives are any better than liberals or the other way around. I prefer the common sense approach. You can say whatever you want to me as long as it makes sense. Liberals just don’t make sense to me. To embrace ideas that simply don’t work, don’t make sense, and have the virtue of having been tried and failed doesn’t seem rational to me.

It’s ok to have passion and be moved and motivated by it. The danger lies in taking our heads out of the equation and leaving the heart in charge. It only feels good until the head comes back.

For die hard liberals, the heart is in charge and the head isn’t coming back.

The Story Behind the Photo

The picture that you see in the sidebar (top) is of my cousin Sarah and I. I spent Christmas day at my aunt and uncle’s house. My cousin is 20 years old and I realized that we didn’t have a picture of us together. Not one.

Her boyfriend/fiance’ snapped the picture.

That’s one photo of us together doing stuff. I hope there are many more.

Sarah and Jaymin proceeded to play around with Photo Booth on my MacBook Pro and this is a sample. Good stuff.

I’m not fat. I’m biofuel!

I’m filing this under “this must be the last bad sign we get before the earth explodes and we all die” category.

I just saw this story on Google News via FoxNews

A former Beverly Hills, Calif. liposuction doctor claimed to have the environment’s best interests at heart when he began fueling his and his girlfriend’s SUVs with human fat sucked out of his patients.

Unfortunately the practice was illegal, according to California state health officials.

An investigation by the California public health department revealed that Craig Alan Bittner created “lipodiesel” from his patients’ fat and used it to power his Ford SUV and his girlfriend’s Lincoln Navigator, Forbes.com reported this week.

To the aliens who have abducted me, I’ve seen enough and I’d like to go home now. Please.

Eartha Kitt: RIP

She will be missed.

From the BNO Newsroom.

Andrew Freedman, Eartha Kitt’s spokesman, has told BNO News that the singer and actress passed away earlier this Christmas Day.

Kitt was best known for her role as Catwoman in the 1960s TV series Batman and for her 1953 Christmas song “Santa Baby”.

Kitt passed away at around 2.35 pm Eastern time this afternoon. Freedman said she had been suffering from colon cancer. Her daughter, Kitt Shapiro, was at her side at the time she died.

I Hope This Was Just An Accident

Found this article in the New York Daily News this morning…

A suspicious fire has torn through the church attended by Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who apologized if the blaze was related to her White House run.

Palin, Republican John McCain’s running mate, was not at the church during the Friday night fire that caused about $1 million damage.

A small group of women and children were in the Wasilla Bible Church doing crafts when the blaze was set at the building’s entrance. The group escaped when a fire alarm sounded, Pastor Larry Kroon said.

Palin spokesman Bill McAllister said the governor visited Saturday and “told an assistant pastor that she apologizes if the incident is in any way connected to the undeserved negative attention the church has received since she became a vice presidential candidate on Aug. 29.”

The church draws as many as 1,000 worshipers on a Sunday.

I would hate to think that people are so bitter over an election that probably ended up the way they wanted it to that they think they would need to burn down a church of God to send a message.

A Sense of Unease

Today was not a great day for news where my friends are concerned.

One of my friends is having “relationship” related issues while another friend is facing grave charges that I feel are absolutely false and unsubstantiated.

Tonight. I will pray for my friends.

I don’t hang out with bad people. When I hear about problems that my friends are having I am forever reminded of what a high class of people they truly are. They don’t deserve the hardships they face.

Keep your heads up!

It will get better.

Q: Who doesn’t believe in downsizing?

A: The Federal Government.

from BusinessWeek

The U.S. faces a cybersecurity threat of such magnitude that the next President should move quickly to create a Center for Cybersecurity Operations and appoint a special White House advisor to oversee it. Those are among the recommendations in a 44-page report by the U.S. Commission on Cybersecurity, a version of which will be made public today. The bipartisan panel includes executives, high-ranking military officers and intelligence officials, leading specialists in computer security, and two members of Congress.

The answer for any type of new problem as far as a liberal is concerned is BIGGER government. If the private sector is cutting jobs don’t worry. The Feds will just create more new government jobs.

Problem solved. Not.

The Next Big Thing

I’m working on writing code for a brand new website for my aunt and uncle’s church.

It’s a big project. I suffer from the pretense that a church website HAS to be better than most other websites out there. I’ve thought about it a bit more and realize that I’m approaching this from the wrong angle.

Because it’s a foursquare church website. Because it’s my aunt and uncle’s church. Of course, it’s going to be a great website.

Silly programmer.
