Twisty fusion reactor goes online after 19 years of work
I found this rather interesting via Engadget.
One Line Wisdom #2
Why would you want to watch a movie based on someone’s interpretation of Steve Jobs and his life when you can just watch Steve Jobs himself on YouTube?
Happy Thanksgiving!
Statement of the Week
The story that I found this little nugget of wisdom in is most certainly tragic. A mother killed herself and probably her son. The story seemed a bit unclear about that.
It’s not clear how the child’s mother got a gun into the hospital. Banner Health has a policy — which is posted at entrances — against carrying firearms and weapons into its facilities, Lozano said.
This makes it sound like either the poor mother didn’t know how to read or that signs will solve everything. Just post a sign and people will do exactly what it says.
Or, in this case…not.
Starting Over…Again
I really mean it this time.
For some reason, when I went to buy chipheadmike so many years ago it wasn't available.
I couldn't believe that some a**hole had decided to grab the name. I mean. Really. How many chipheadmikes could there actually be.
The other day, I decided to look again to see if it was available after 7 years or so and WHOLA! It indeed was available.
The next question was…what do I do with it?
I have decided to merge everything that I could find that I've ever written or posted online into one place.
That is what chipheadmike will be. A place to keep my stuff.
Starting Over
This blog has been around since 2008 or so.
I do not update it regularly.
I have decided to create something new. A new name with articles or columns that I write that have more to do with the writing world I am now apart of.
This new website will be a bunch more entertaining and I’m going to take some of the filters off. I will write about and post things that interest me whether they are too “bold” to post or not.
I’ve always tried to keep a super clean blog.
Sometimes, though, you just want to say bad words.
I’ll see ya’ll out there somewhere.

If you watch American Idol then you are part of the problem.
iPad Mini Logitech Keyboard Post
I just got the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Mini Case.
It is super small and this is the first typing I’ve done on it.
So far, not bad. Definitely something designed for the writer who needs to be able to quickly compose something on his/her Mini.
Some of the keys had to be combined with other keys to create a better typing experience. Once you get past that, it really isn’t bad. I can easily see myself typing out a short story and re-working a scene with the iPad Mini with this keyboard attached.
If you suffer from the “fat finger” thing then this keyboard is not for you.
Life Lesson #12
Never make a business appointment with someone for a specific time and then just not show up.
It’s never cool.
Updated: February 25, 2013
Update: I should probably post “why” its not cool. Its not cool because by being late you are saying to them “I do not value your time.” You can NEVER make the claim that you care about them because by being late or not showing up at all, you have already proven otherwise with your actions alone. ** Bitter content removed ** I had written an additional sentence or two but after reading through it this morning, I feel that it was a bit over the top. Being late for anything is one of my biggest pet peeves. You can almost completely control this event and by being late you also show that you have no control over events that you obviously should. Bottom line: being late shows a lot about the person who is late. None of them are positive.
Wow. February.
And not a blog entry to be found.
Who the hell is running this place?
Come on.
Technical Projects
I am currently working on server type stuff. I realize that if I get much more technical than that, there will be a few folks whose heads may explode.
I enjoy the simplicity of Mac Server.
I do not enjoy the complexity of creating an internal ecosystem.
If you’ve read this and said to yourself “what the hell is he talking about?” #geekwin
Instapaper Roundup
These are some of the stories I found to be important enough to save to Instapaper.
Our paychecks just got 2% lighter.
Some folks would like to ban the term “fiscal cliff” from the English language.
A great bluetooth security idea for Apple computers.
That's all I have for this week.
Stay tuned. Coming up this week…I'm sure congress will do something stupid, someone will try to take someone else's rights away, and the United States (sans morality) will continue to spiral into the abyss of history as a great idea on paper but easily corruptable over time which leads to its inevitable failure.
Fieldrunners 2 for iPad
This game is my latest addiction on the iPad. This is not a game that you'll find yourself playing for a small amount of time. I'm always looking up at the clock and saying something like “damn!”
You can get the game here.
It’s 2013!!
Ok. We can all go back to sleep now.
Instapaper Dump: Some Good Reading
Here are some stories worth reading via Instapaper.
1. The Surface. Great product? Poor Execution?
2. A few books that Bill Gates think are worth reading from 2012.
3. Five planets found around Tau Ceti. One may be habitable.
4. Short battery life plagues Windows 8 tablets.
5. Fake Morgan Freeman statement on Sandy Hook killings.
So 10 Days Later…
I haven't posted anything on here for 10+ days.
There is a good reason for that.
Ok, no there is not.
I have a new day time work schedule so maybe that has something to do with it.
Two Things That Piss Me Off
The lady that puts her hazardous lights on, gets out of her mini van in the middle of a busy road to collect mail from a roadside mailbox. The problem is that the lady doesn't just grab the mail and move along. No. She stands there in the road looking at each piece of mail. Hopefully, one day someone will run her fat ass over.
The media (call it mainstream if you'd like) but the media in general really pissed me off over this Sandy Hook school shooting. How many facts can you get wrong? Not only that but the sensationalizing and glorification of an evil cold-blooded child killer is wrong on any planet you may find yourself on. The media should be ashamed of itself for the way it covered this tragic event. Shame on you and I hope you burn in hell you pathetic pieces of shit.
Wow. I feel better.
Yes. Someone still needs to run the fat ass mail lady over. It just needs to happen.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Whatever that means to you in whatever part of the world you may live in.
Today after the main meal, I'll be focusing on losing extra weight that beer has helped me put on. I plan to be in full tennis match shape by the time the spring rolls around. Its a bit agressive but necessary.
My incredibly brilliant weight loss plan?
Take in less calories than I expend. Simple. Works.
Exercise will also be a part of the regiment.
In my twenties and into my thirties I was capable of doing a thousand push-ups and a thousand sit-ups. There is no reason to believe that I cannot reach that goal in a reasonable amount of time.
Here's to a losing winter. 🙂
New Zagg Keyboard for the iPad

Just got the new ZaggKeys Pro Plus keyboard/case for my iPad 3rd generation today.
The first test of any new keyboard is for me to write a new blog post about it.
This is a new type of case. The iPad is held in place when closed by magnets and their is no real “case” per se. The iPad and the keyboard together are the case. What this means is that I'll have to buy a Gelaskin for the iPad and possibly something for the back of the keyboard piece.
The backlit keys are a plus.
Typing feels really good as well. I'm liking it.
Funny. But. Sadly. True

Mike’s List of Absolutes
Your hair and your nails are comprised of your DEAD cells. Therefore, neither one can be considered “Healthy” by any measure.
Birthdays are a way to measure LIFE and not DEATH. That being said, you do not have birthdays after you die. You may have an anniversary of your death but you cease having birthdays upon death.
That's all I have so far. This list may change at any point.
That is all.
Bad Piggies – A Review

Rovio has just introduced Bad Piggies into the wild. This game has been expected for some time even though we really didn't know what kind of Angry Birds spin there would be on it.
As it turns out, there is very little resemblance to the original block buster iOS game.
What made Angry Birds so popular has been completely abandoned by Rovio in this new game. AB was a joy to play because you just fling birds at pigs. Pretty simple. A great diversion and time killer that didn't require any more thinking than “how far do I pull back on the slingshot?”
Very similar to “Amazing Alex” (another Rovio game), Bad Piggies requires that you build things and well…think. I'm sure that a few folks will enjoy that type of thing. I don't.
I have a few games on my iPad but the ones I tend to like the most are not the ones where a tremendous amount of thinking is involved. Little Generals is a great game. You simply blow stuff up. Yatzee is very simple. The iPad game does most of the thinking for you.
Sounds like Mike doesn't like thinking…doesn't it?
Well, I write stories, programs, movies, etc. When I turn to my iPad for a quick diversion, I like simple.
Bad Piggies is not simple.
A complete turn from Angry Birds and a complete miss for Rovio as far as I'm concerned.
(Update: 10.3.2012 – Additional thoughts. What I think this game should be is a building of structures that end with the birds being thrown against them. How many pigs you have left should determine how well you do. )
